Power
of Thought -
Behind every successful filmmaker and his film, you can find few
sacrifices made.Filmmaking, to me is like meditation with out food
and water. If thats the kind of passion you have on this beautiful
Art, you are sure to win hearts of million .Oh, yeah....I get what
you were thinking . "These days , its become fashion for a
musician to say "music is like meditation", for a painter
to say " painting is like meditation , i met a software pro
who irritated me saying " well, working on these ....... is
like meditation " and why not, this dam venkat blindly follow
them to say " Filmmaking is like meditation".
So lemme clear what i actually mean. Scientists, discoverers, inventors,
develop a certain habit of meditation. If they do not have great
concentration , if they do not plunge heart and soul into their
research, they cannot discern anything. Like wise, A filmmaker gives
his soul and heart for the story he wants the world to see.
There are just three requirements to be a better filmmaker
1.Hardwork
2.Hardwork
3.Hardwork
The first hardwork means the work you do in mind . The toughest
part of your journey.Writing your concept or screenplay.Even if
you decide to direct others screenplay, your mind has lots of work
to do.Never give up untill you know that screenplay is strong.
The second hardwork is physical work.Shooting for long hours, shooting
on the hill, inside the cave, shooting five scences a day for a low
budget film, coordinating with yout coworkers , theres no time limit. You
gotta work. Its your baby and it deserves your attention 24/7/365.
The third hardwork is again given to mind - its the ability to
sustain any obstacles which you might come across while making the
film. The pain of loosing financial support for the film, The pain
of not getting dates from actor, the pain of not being able to shoot
because of any genuine reason, when you desperately want to shoot. The
pain of your material being damaged. Its a common issue in every
film but the reason i call it as hardwork is that when you worry
to the core, your mind gets the burden which hinders your creative
nature.so take your failures and pains as experience for making
better movies.
Ok....where am i taking you with my bad english. Why did i name
this topic as " Power of thought" ?
Thought moulds human life.Every thought is a force which determines
his destiny. Our whole life is a outer manifestation of inner thought. Its
a creative force which will soon result in good or bad action. But
there are very few times we think consciously. Many times we get
carried away by our feelings. An impulse comes, a desire awakens
in the heart, and at once the whole thought is carried away by it
. It takes possession of the mind, as if the man had sold himself
to it.
In bhagavat gita we read : When a man's mind constantly dwells
on sense - objects, he begins to value them and becomes attached
to them. From this attachment araises the desire to possess them,
and if anything stands in his way, he grows angry.Through anger
he loses all control and power of discernment , and thus he works
his own ruin. At first the object and he stand as two seperate entities
, but through attachment and lack of discrimination, he becomes
identified with it and naturally suffers from whatever effect it
may produce.
If the mind is practiced to work consciously in all the issues
, it will bring peace and happiness to our life. And why is that
i am saying all this to you ?.This is a dream industry where so
many failures and obstacles becomes part of day to a life.We as
filmmmaker can keep our creative nature and ability in height only
if our mind is pure and steady. If not we will suffer more because
of uncertain happenings which are very common in this industry.
Let every thought that sparks in your mind , every single second
be a good , constructive thought. I wish you work hard, smart with
clear and pure mind all through your life . May the Goddess of art
bless you with creativity, peace and prosperity.
Finally about Venkat :
Though i wanna portray myself very politely , the word "rocks"
in Venkatrocks sounds as if i am "big" ( hope u know whats
BIG in this field ) but really venkat is as ordinary as mosquito,
you can slap and kill in one blow.Unfortunately, for you, this little
mosquito called venkat escaped to survive and make a living as a
filmmaker.
I love the art of editing , photography and enjoy doing everything
in filmmaking .Forgive me for gramatic errors, spelling mistakes
and few other mistakes that has enough force to keep you run outta
this site. Though not a good writer , i love to write as its the
way i can bring out what i have in heart.
Please feel free to write to me .
